Under a Carnivore Sky

Where I’m Donating My Profits

I’m donating 10% of the money I make from Under a Carnivore Sky. These are the organizations I’ve donated to so far.

We know that climate justice demands more than protests or a reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs), it requires liberation from the root causes of planetary injustices. As a decolonial organization, we value Indigenous ways of being that invite radical imagination and space for creativity and exploration. “

“The Earth gives us everything we need to live vital lives, and we have the power to sustain it.

Yet, the Earth’s vitality is disappearing. The human health consequences, flooding, drought, extreme weather and economic devastation caused by climate change are accelerating.”

“As in nature, we have strength in numbers. Our ability to help wildlife is inextricably linked to the diverse efforts of the individuals and groups that support our mission. Across the country we engage with communities, schools, governments, and other organizations to build and nurture a common commitment to conservation.”

“Birds are telling us—in their behavior, in their dwindling numbers, in their silence—that we must take action now, and that we must take action where birds need us most, from the Arctic to Chile and everywhere in between.”

“These lands are the foundation of America’s outdoor recreation heritage and sustain our way of life. They provide water to millions Americans in thousands of communities, clean our air, store carbon, and provide timber, minerals, oil and gas and other resources for industry and communities. Without these lands, America would be a very different place.”

“We cannot stop climate change without saving tropical forests. If tropical deforestation were a country, it would be the fourth largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China, the United States, and India. Yet, in spite of this destruction, the tropical forests that remain still remove twice this quantity of CO2 equivalents from the atmosphere each year.”

“Did you know that more than 70% of the emissions that cause global warming come from our energy system? Every year, the global energy system produces almost 40 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions. As emerging economies develop and their energy needs increase, that number will only increase unless we make dramatic changes to the way we power our world.”

There are, of course, countless organizations in need and deserving of donations. I chose these based on the themes of my novel, my own love of nature, and the global impact of climate change.

Just because an organization doesn’t appear on this list, doesn’t mean I found it lacking or unworthy in any way.

If you know of an organization doing important work, I’d love to hear about it. One day, if I’m so lucky, I’d love this page to be so long that you have to scroll forever just to get to the bottom.
